Stimuli and Habitual Reactions with Anthony Kingsley
Sunday June 13th - June19th at the Alexander Music School in Spain, with Anthony Kingsley
This course is intended for both teachers and pupils of the Technique who have an interest in developing their understanding of the mind-body link. The focus of this course will work with how Awareness, Choice and Inhibition can become a constant guide, giving a real potential for changing patterns.
Morning and evening sessions will be divided between group workshops and individual lessons. In the workshops, Anthony will guide the group through certain exercises which initially help one to recognize, and ultimately learn about reactions and deep-rooted habits. The form of the workshops allows for participants to share and explore their experience with the group. Others may prefer to continue their discoveries in the privacy of the one-to one-lessons.
Anthony completed his training in 1986, and has studied extensively with several of the first generation of teachers to be qualified by Alexander. Anthony previously taught at the Alexander Institute in London with Dr and Marjory Barlow. He has been the manager of the Alexander Studio since 1993 where he maintains his private practice. Anthony has been training teachers since 1990 and assisted in the training of over 100 teachers who are now working throughout the world. Anthony is now the director of the Alexander Teacher Training School (ATTS), which operates in the same building as the Alexander Studio.
In 2000, Anthony qualified as a psychotherapist. This specialisation has deepened his understanding of the mind-body link in the Alexander Technique. He has worked with, and is inspired by the Formative Psychology approach of Stanley Keleman, and he offers individual sessions in integrative psychotherapy based on a somatic-emotional model.
Anthony provides ongoing training for Alexander teachers who wish to enhance their professional skills. He gives workshops and seminars on the technique in the United Kingdom and abroad and also consults to industry and the medical profession on stress-management, ergonomics, and personal effectiveness.
Cat is very pleased to welcome back Anthony Kingsley to the Alexander Music School after a successful course in September 2003.
